Thunderbird Global Council on Campus on Monday

The Thunderbird Global Council will be on campus this Monday, April 22 for meetings. We would like to request that students dress in business casual on that day. We appreciate your cooperation.

Wi-Fi Assessment Update

Over the last several months the IT department has been conducting a Wi-Fi assessment across campus, including the student dorm rooms (284 rooms) and public areas such as the Commons and the IBIC. The purpose of this assessment has been to identify and fix any Wi-Fi signal deficiencies found. The assessment results have been analyzed and many of the identified weak spots have already been improved.

Additional access points have been deployed where needed and adjustments to existing access points were made to boost signal strength.  IT will continue to improve Wi-Fi availability across campus where possible but, in the meantime, please continue to report any and all Wi-Fi problems you encounter to the Helpdesk.

Please keep in mind that privately-owned Wi-Fi access points are not permitted in dorm rooms as they interfere with Thunderbird Wi-Fi access points and decrease performance for other users. If you are currently using a privately-owned Wi-Fi access point or even a wireless printer, please be considerate to your neighbors and turn that device or the wireless feature off.

Lastly, the Helpdesk has noticed an increase in Mac Wi-Fi-related issues on campus, where Mac users are experiencing difficulties with browsing the Internet. Most of the issues were found to be linked to “Preferred Network Entries” on the Mac itself. Please follow this linkhttp://help.thunderbird.edu/content/mac-wi-fi-connection-issues or stop by the Helpdesk for assistance with this issue.

TSG Honors Outstanding Student Leadership and Student Activity Accomplishment:

The Thunderbird Student Government has worked hard to build a sense of community among student leaders this trimester, and encourage our clubs to plan and perform at ever higher standards!  Have you been involved in a club that positively impacted your Thunderbird experience?  Now is your chance to recognize the club leader (President, member, or otherwise), who made that experience possible!

Please participate in this brief Survey where students will be allowed to select vote for the best clubs, club leaders and student members! These awards will be presented on April 26 at TSG Public meeting 1:00pm. Please mark your calendars and attend this meeting – you or your favorite club might be one of those that gets honored that day!

Opportunity to participate in Exec Ed program  with Executives

Would you like to get a $50 gift card for participating in a 2 hour workshop we’ll have during one of our Thunderbird Executive Education programs? Hurry to take part in this opportunity! This invitation closes on April 23, 2013.

This is an open invitation to students, staff, faculty, or anybody from the Thunderbird community from Brazil, China, India, and the Middle East (UAE preferred) to be an integral part of a Global Mindset & Global Leadership workshop for an elite group of 30 executives, presented by Dr. Dennis Baltzley, Thunderbird’s Executive Education Senior Vice President. This workshop is designed for these leaders to experience how cosmopolitanism, proactive relationships, and learning orientation play out in interacting with individuals from the geographies mentioned above.

Location: Thunderbird Campus
Date: Thursday, May 2nd, 2013
Time: 10:15 AM – 12:15 PM and complimentary Global Supper held May 2 at 6:30 PM at the Thunderbird Commons private dining room.
Why? Besides you receiving a $50 debit gift card, you will meet with key senior executives interested about your country and share your thoughts about your home market. This is great practice in learning to communicate effectively with senior executives.
