MTV’s series True Life will be featuring the lives of American’s that have decided to pick up their life in the states and move abroad for love. The True Life: I’m Moving Overseas for Love episode will air in 2014, and is now searching for subjects to feature in this segment of the Emmy Award winning series.
The show will give the audience a glimpse at the excitement and challenges faced by Americans who are following their hearts to another country. Not to Italy, France or any other country where the comforts of home abound, mind you. But to a far-flung, exotic locale where the local customs, cuisine and mores differ vastly from their own.
Lori Raimondo, Thunderbird alumna ’89, is Associate Producer and Casting Director for the show. “As soon as I heard about the True Life: Moving Overseas for Love episode I immediately thought of Thunderbird,” said Raimondo. “While I was at Thunderbird, students were heading off to all corners of the earth whether for a semester abroad, an internship, charity work or a new job. Often the T-bird had a spouse or partner that would also be making the trip and confronting the challenges that come along with such a move. And of course many T-birds fell in love with a classmate and followed them back to their homeland.”

About MTV True Life: Since its first episode in 1998, True Life has provided a window into the struggles, hopes, and dreams of young people. Narrated solely by its characters, each episode documents the unusual–and often remarkable–circumstances of real individuals, whether it’s about soldiers returning from Iraq, deaf teenagers, or people living with autism. True Life has given all of them–and hundreds of others–the opportunity to tell their own stories directly to their peers in this powerful, Emmy award winning series that uniquely reflects the experiences and cultures of this generation.
