Up first is Boomerang. Boomerang for Gmail (and by extension, Thunderbird Email) lets you control when you send and receive email messages when you’re using Chrome/Firefox/Safari. So what can you do with it?

Send Email Later: It lets you write an email now and schedule it to be sent automatically at the time you want it to be sent. No more emails to your clients sent out at 3am! Write the message as you normally would, then click the Send Later button. Their calendar picker understands language like “next Monday” to tell Boomerang when to send your email.

Follow Up Reminders: Boomerang lets you take messages out of your inbox until you actually need them. Clicking the Boomerang button when you have an email open will let you choose when you need it again. Boomerang will archive the message. At the time you selected, Boomerang will bring it back to your inbox, marked unread, starred, or even at the top of your message list. Not only that, Boomerang also lets you opt to be reminded if nobody replies, or regardless. This way you won’t let messages slip through the crack and will never forget to follow up with people.

Boomerang is available for mobile phones as well, so check it out at http://www.boomeranggmail.com/

Next is Rapportive. Rapportive  shows you everything about your contacts right inside your inbox. This includes their Linkedin profiles, Twitter handles, Facebook profiles, job, company, where they’re based, the works. Now before you start to think this is a really creepy stalking tool, think about all the times that you’ve needed to reach out to a potential job recruiter or client for a project but had insufficient information to impress them. Rapportive provides a nifty way of finding out this information. It also lets you leave notes on their profile, for you to follow up on (say like notes for an interview). Last, but not least, is Yesware. Yesware is an add-on for Gmail that makes your email interactions more effective.

Email tracking: Yesware lets you get alerts each time someone opens an email or clicks on a link. It lets yu know exactly when to follow up with your clients and prospects. It notifies you as to where in the world your message is being viewed and also the device your email recipients are using to view your email.

Team Collaboration: It lets you name your team and invite colleagues to collaborate and allows you to view detailed team reports & analytics on emails sent, opens, response rates, & much more.

Reminder: With Reminders, you’ll be able to follow up easily. You can remind yourself to follow-up on important emails and use the reminders to easily prioritize critical messages that don’t receive replies to as well as received detailed tracking information about your emails when the Reminders come due.

Unfortunately, Yesware only allows a 100 “events” in the free version, but is definitely worth trying out! Check it out at http://www.yesware.com/
