On April 17, Prof. Richard Ettenson and the Thunderbird Marketing Association invited Kevin Sellers for a guest speaker session in his Global Brand Management class. All T-Birds were invited to attend and discover a global business rock star and true Thunderbird friend.
Kevin Sellers’ background includes senior positions at Intel in both finance and marketing. For instance, Sellers was Country Manager for Japan and Senior Director of Global Advertising at Intel! He and his marketing team started the campaign Intel Look Inside. Here is one ad of the campaign. This campaign was very powerful for Intel as it applied both rational and emotional marketing concepts. “The most valuable insight for me was the common characteristic of best brands: simple, unique and differentiated, emotional connection, and clear call to action,” says Yasuhiko Tokunaga (MBA ’15, Japan).
Kevin Sellers gave precious advice for pursuing future career paths. He told the audience to do what they love, and advised them not to be afraid of doing a hard job – either stepping back or aside – in order to get a better opportunity in the future. “He was excellent in giving a different spin and making life much simpler to understand. He was like no one I have seen before,” says Anish Chilukuri (MBA ’15, India). “Kevin was very prepared and energetic. His experience inspired me a lot during the presentation,” adds Mengyi Hu (MS ’15, China).
We would like to thank Kevin for his time and we are looking forward to seeing him again. For those of you who could not attend the presentation, Prof. Ettenson and TMA will share the presentation slides.
