Anna Eades, Editor-in-Chief, Das Tor

Wow, the fact that I’m even writing this piece seems surreal! I cannot express how grateful and humbled I am to have been selected to lead this incredible organization along with the brilliant David Lugo Robles. Since 1969, Das Tor has served as the voice of the Thunderbird student body, and I am absolutely honored to be a part of an organization that is so integral to the Thunderbird experience.

To the following people, I want to extend my most sincere thanks:

To our outgoing Editor-In-Chief, Sophie: thank you for all of your incredible contributions to this organization the past 2 years that have truly taken Das Tor to the next level.  I feel like I’ve learned more from you in the past 3 months than I have in my entire educational career!

To our faculty advisor, Adam Henry: thank you for being an advocate for Das Tor and always going the extra mile to help our organization succeed.  Your support means more to us than you know.

To all of the current members of Das Tor: thank you for your warm congratulations so far, and for allowing me to serve as editor for the upcoming year.  I plan to do everything I can to make sure you all have the support and resources to succeed in Das Tor at all times.

Finally, to David: thank you for agreeing to embark on this journey alongside me! I’m so excited to work with you and can’t wait to see what we can accomplish as a team.

Looking forward to learning, growing, and pushing the boundaries of what Das Tor previously thought to be possible.  Let’s do this!

David Lugo Robles, Assistant Editor-in-Chief

Thank you for depositing your trust in me to co-lead with Anna Eades the Das Tor team. Anna and I are excited to collaborate and continue growing Das Tor to its full potential. I am grateful for Sophie and Andrea’s leadership, and for pushing the envelope in what can be achieved through great student leadership. I would also like to extend my warmest congratulations to the Das Tor team members who are graduating. You did an excellent job, and we hope to continue engaging with you through alumni publications. Faculty wise, I would like to thank Adam Henry for your continuous support as a Faculty Advisor. Thank you for your openness and ability to collaborate and support Das Tor’s mission. I would also thank Michael Cylkowski and Terrance J. Balousek for coming through in support of events, photography, and other areas of opportunity.

We know Das Tor has grown to nearly 30 student members who collaborate in making sure we address deadlines regarding publications, podcasts, special events, and special printed editions; we are looking forward to pushing the limit and seeing where it takes us. We have an amazing team who just joined us in the Spring who are ready to back up our Fall team members. I am looking forward to engaging them this summer to find areas of opportunity to achieve growth, synergies, and more efficiencies. I envision a bright future for Das Tor as it cements itself, not only as a legacy student organization, but as a pillar of the Thunderbird student-led culture.

Lastly, I would like to extend an invitation to all current and past Thunderbirds to use Das Tor as a means to channel your voice. Maximize this opportunity to celebrate your culture, your interest, and global matters. We are here because of you, and for you.
