Assistant Director to Global Recruitment

This is part of Das Tor’s ongoing series “Student Success Spotlights,” which features the hardworking staff on the Student Success Team at Thunderbird.

Hi! My name is Dr. Sogol Homayoun. I am the Assistant Director to the Master of Global Management in Thunderbird’s Recruitment and Admissions Department. Our team helps students like YOU through the admissions process to transition into Thunderbird smoothly!

My background influenced the work I do as part of the Student Success team. Personally, I was born in Iran and raised in Germany, Iran and the U.S. I moved to Arizona in 2002 to pursue higher education. Prior to joining Thunderbird, I was an investment specialist for a top U.S. investment firm. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in English Linguistics from Arizona State University (ASU), a Masters in Global Management from Thunderbird, and a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Innovation from ASU.

Like many Thunderbirds, I am a travel and language enthusiast. I speak English, Spanish, and Farsi (Persian) and have traveled to 14 countries and counting. I came to Thunderbird to lead a purpose-driven life to develop future generations of students, mentees, and clients and help them overcome barriers through higher education, self-reflection, and creative development.

All students are welcome to reach out to my team and I to talk about admissions, scholarships, work in our department and to personally network for jobs/internships. Since we know you the longest, feel free to ask for a safe environment to talk about other matters. We will, at least, lend you an ear or point you to the best direction for help. You can preferably contact me via email: sogol.homayoun@thunderbird.asu.edu

Finally, be sure to check out the slideshow of photos below. These pictures summarize a lot of who I am beyond just my job title: a traveler, scholar, creative developer, higher education advocate, professor, networker, and mentor.
