This is part of Das Tor’s ongoing series “Student Success Spotlights,” which features the hardworking staff on the Student Success Team at Thunderbird

Hi, everyone! I am Kylee Vanek. I am excited to join Thunderbird as Assistant Director of Employer Relations within the Career Management Center (CMC) and the Student Success team. Prior to joining Thunderbird, I worked with Career & Professional Development Services (CPDS) at ASU, supporting a team that served students and alumni from all majors and programs. I also oversaw CPDS operations at both the Tempe and Polytechnic campuses. I have worked in multiple roles aimed at supporting students in their academic and professional development during my 14 years in higher education, including in housing, academic advising, and career development.

The Employer Relations team at the CMC exists to help connect employers and their opportunities, both full-time and internships, with Thunderbird students. As I continue to learn more about the student body, your interests, and your goals, I hope that I can help our team highlight employers and opportunities that resonate with your employment pursuits.

I work closely with other members of the CMC to track what students are interested in, where they are applying, and where they are receiving and accepting offers from. This data is valuable, as we connect with employers and alumni to offer employer sessions and other opportunities.

Students can feel free to reach out to me via email at kylee.vanek@thunderbird.asu.edu

A few things about me beyond work: I just bought my first home in Tempe with my wife Meredith. We have a cat named Mouse, who is the most precious kitty in the world. I have a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration from Central Michigan University, where I majored in Purchasing & Supply and a master’s in Educational Leadership & Policy from the University of Utah. I am excited to be a part of Thunderbird and look forward to working with you! To learn more about me and my love of cats, check out the photos below.

I will literally find a cat at any gathering and befriend it!
