Exploring outside of our comfort zone is one of the pillars of being a T-Bird; some would say it’s one of our badges of honor or even DNA.  But when it comes to managing and tolerating risk for a business, especially one that has traction and is beginning to gain sales and momentum, strategic expansion operationally and from a cash flow perspective are always difficult to balance.  In essence, to grow, a business needs new customers and new markets.

At one moment in many companies’ development lifecycle, internationalization and scale become very real necessities. Founders are consistently trying to easily access new markets, but it’s usually perceived as a large and challenging mountain to scale. With budgetary, time, personnel, technical, and cultural constraints, how can growth be de-risked?

As a Marketing, Biz Dev, and Partnerships consultant for the last 4 years, I weave in and out of different industries and categories, learning, extrapolating, comparing, and connecting the dots.  One of my recent projects, Scale2Dubai, may be worthy of consideration for the global T-Bird community at large – or your friends and colleagues in your professional networks.

Scale2Dubai’s program, as a part of District2020 and Expo2020 Dubai, is looking for the innovators, the startups, and the scaleups in the following industry verticals: Smart Logistics, Smart Cities, Smart Mobility, and Industry 4.0 (Smart Manufacturing). In addition, Scale2Dubai attracts startups and scaleups in the Blockchain, Robotics, Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, and Big Data segments that facilitate work done in the four (4) prioritized industry verticals.

Now for the good news – Scale2Dubai’s global call for startups is now open, and we invite you to continue with the review process. We are taking applications on a rolling basis until December of 2021, but we encourage you to build on the momentum to complete the full application now.

Scale2Dubai offers invited applicants two years of free workspace, business setup support, and guidance needed to scale up while also providing access to funding, deal flow, networking opportunities, and connections with big-name global players. Subsidized housing is also available for admitted applicants. By early January 2022, shortlisted applications will be evaluated by 50 international judges who are technical experts from various fields. Our whole team of judges and District2020 staff are looking forward to reviewing your application!

How do you apply? The process is simple. Click here to register on the Scale2Dubai application platform. This process to register should take you no longer than 3-5 minutes. You’ll receive an automated email with login credentials to access the application platform.   From there, on the home screen, you will find the 2-part application for completion. You can edit your responses to each part of the application process. After each application stage is complete, you’ll receive an email notifying you of the form’s completion.

As an additional value-add, our team has added dozens of startup and scaleup training videos that can help you with your business development, and this content can be used as a tool to craft your application. These resources are available 24 hours a day/7 days a week and are totally free to view as many times as you and your team would like.

On behalf of the entire District2020 team and our program partners, we thank you for your early interest and hope you accept our wholehearted invitation to apply for Scale2Dubai and join our innovation ecosystem. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our team at tech@genglobal.org.

So consider yourself invited to apply, and let the journey take you to a new part of the globe.  The soft-landing support in Dubai may very well unlock a world of scaling opportunities across the Middle East, Asia, and Africa.  Good luck!
