I had the pleasure to work for Das Tor as a Strategic Advisor during my last year at Thunderbird. My role was focused on building connections between alumni, different club organizations, the ASU community, and external stakeholders in Phoenix in order to deliver meaningful information to the weekly newspaper.
My favorite part of being a Strategic Advisor was that we created the position based on my skills and natural impact on the Thunderbird community and considered the position as part of the strategy of Das Tor. I feel extremely honored to see other students enroll in this new position and start contributing to Das Tor in different ways. My best memory was spending my whole last weekend in Thunderbird editing the Das Tor yearbook 2022 and discovering that I have organized many events during my two years in the school.
My favorite part about being a Thunderbird was being involved in different club organizations and serving as an internal force to inspire innovative ideas that make an impact in the school. I feel rewarded when I see projects and ideas that I recommended happen.
My plans upon graduation are to use my natural skills in public relations, communication, and strategy and develop my career in the global partnerships field inside of the U.S. market at the intersection between business and government, having always in mind my Latin American perspective and contributing to sustainable development for developing countries.
My advice for the new generation of Thunderbird leaders will be to always collaborate and contribute with each other in order to maximize outcomes and to be humble enough to put the team’s benefits over one’s own. A spirit of inclusiveness and caring reflect what Thunderbird’s mission and vision are all about.
