Hey there T-birds!
I hope that everyone had a great weekend and that everyone’s Valentine’s Day was incredible (and if you’re single–I hope the burning of ex’s pictures went well)! I would also like to thank everyone for an amazing Town Hall meeting with President Penley last week. If you had the chance to make it, I’m sure you all can agree that it was great to hear about the direction of our school with regards to the new curriculum and the latest rankings. It was some amazing news. With over 100 students in attendance it was very engaging. To view the Town Hall please visit the MTB Media Space Page.
A few announcements for this week.
Ask TSG–Get your questions, concerns and queries addressed:
Since we understand that most students have other commitments and may not be able to attend the TSG Public Meetings on Friday, TSG is now at the Commons during lunch hour! From Monday through Thursday, TSG members will be at the Commons from 1:00 – 2:00 pm, to talk to you, solicit feedback and answer questions.
We also carry forms that you can fill out, if you have a particular question or comment that you would like the school administration to answer [Ask Rebecca (VP of Student Services), Ask Guy/CMC, Ask Kim (VP Marketing & Communications) and Ask TSG]. If we do not have an answer on the spot, we will ensure that your query is forwarded to the right person in the school administration and that it will be answered/addressed in the TSG Public meeting.
Queries we received last week ranged from “Why can’t Thunderbird mandate Skype interviews for all incoming students?” to “Poor wi-fi connections in the dorms” to “We would like more walk-in career advising sessions at the Commons.” These were addressed by the Rebecca and Guy. If you are not comfortable or do not have the time to set up an appointment with administration, this is an excellent way to see quick action. I encourage all of you to take advantage of this forum to give feedback.
Spring 2013 Scholarships:
The Spring 2013 list of scholarships is now available for review. There are several deadlines – most fall between today and Monday, February 25.
Custom Funds for Clubs:
This trimester, in addition to the funds that clubs have received through allocations from the student body, there are funds available from the TSG budget. All formal clubs have been divided into networks. Please skim through the document uploaded on our MTB page for more info on how these funds can be accessed. If you have any queries, please e-mail our Treasurer: Amar Haware at amar.haware@global.t-bird.edu.
Attention May ’13 graduates- Class Gift Survey:
During each Fall and Spring Trimester at Thunderbird, money is raised to pay for the Class Gift. The Class Gift is given to the school by the graduating class each trimester. Through a collaborative effort, the TSG wants to make this trimester’s Class Gift truly special and this is your first chance to share your opinion on the Class Gift.
Reid Drossos, our Alumni Relations & Executive Education Chair would love to hear your suggestions on ideas for the class gift. Please fill out this one question survey to help him out: http://www.surveymonkey.com/s/BX9F6K2
Case Competition Fund:
This trimester, the TSG has allocated $2000 to a Case Competition Fund. Rebecca Henriksen has added another $2000, making it a total of $4000. This amount will be used exclusively for those students who represent Thunderbird at case competitions. The TSG is ready to look into your requests and reimburse a certain amount- requests will be dealt with on a first come- first serve basis. Please note that certain case competitions require endorsement from a faculty member before withdrawing funds from the TSG. For any queries, please contact: amar.haware@global.t-bird.edu.
The Americas Regional Night- March 2nd:
The Americas regional night this trimester will be held on Saturday, March 2nd! For those of you who are interested in being involved in planning or performances, please e-mail: Yemileojeda@global.t-bird.edu and govind.menon@global.t-bird.edu.
Thank you for reading and we hope to see you this Friday at 1 pm at LH 53!
